Loraine (Nana) Benge, age 72 of Hamilton passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at 7:30 PM. She was born in Brookville, Indiana on December 18, 1937 the daughter of Charles and Golda (Gentry) Marcum. Loraine was employed as an assembler at Ford Motor Company for 24 years, retiring in 1999. On August 7, 1954 in Hamilton, she married Marshall Benge, and he preceded her in death in 2004. Loraine was the most precious and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that any family could ask for. She was a mom who loved the Lord dearly, and is now rejoicing in Heaven with all who went before her. Loraine went to meet Jesus on her late husband’s birthday. Our tears and words could never express how much she will be sadly missed.

She is survived by two sons, Marshall “Marty” (Sandy) Benge Jr. of Indiana and Mark (Patsy) Benge of Tennessee; four daughters, Golda (Bill) Smallwood of Hamilton, Myrna (Jim) Lewis of Indiana, Melody Smith of Blanchester, and Michelle (Butch) Maupin of Hamilton; five brothers, Charles (Imogene) Marcum of Lebanon, Fred (Wanda) Marcum of Hamilton, Rick (Jane) Marcum of Brookville, Indiana, Dale (Jan) Marcum of Florida, and Mike (Denise) Marcum of Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters, Marie McKinney of California and Carol (Richard) Campbell of Hamilton; 16 grandchildren, Matthew, Eric, Justin, Billy, Mike, Andrea, Jason, Scott, Brent, Darrell, Rachael, Melinda, Jeremy, Brian, Ashley, and Casey; 25 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Loraine’s brother Dale Marcum officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.

So sorry to hear about this. I will always remember our talks about the Mcdonald Happy Meal toys. I know she enjoyed her hobby. (even though she told me had too many, she always went back for more).

My deepest sympathy to you all for the loss of your mother.  My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
